The rapture will occur when Jesus bodily returns to earth and those who believe in Him as God’s Son and have put their faith in Him as Saviour will rise to meet Him. The only way to be ready for the rapture is to receive Jesus Christ as your Saviour before it happens.
Paul wrote these words to the church in Thessalonica; to believers: “For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.” (1 Thessalonians 4:15–18). This is a description of the rapture. If you are “in Christ,” you are ready for the rapture.
Those who are not in Christ, who have not accepted Jesus as their eternal Saviour, will not be raptured. In fact, the day of the Lord, which follows the rapture, “… cometh as a thief in the night.” (1 Thessalonians 5:2). Yet to believers, Paul said, “But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.” (1 Thessalonians 5:4).
In Jesus’s parable of the ten virgins, five were wise and had their lamps full of oil and ready for the coming of the bridegroom. Five were not and missed the event (Matthew 25:1–13). Believers have faith and the indwelling Holy Spirit (the oil in their lamps); they are ready for the rapture.
If you have not believed in Jesus as the Son of God, the Saviour, today is the day you can do so (2 Corinthians 6:2).
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:”
Acts Chapter 16:30-31
“And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”
