COVID-19, a type of Coronavirus, which started in Wuhan, China, has, as of writing this, has infected over 5.3 million people and has sadly killed over 342,000 people. So, with these alarming stats, the question is being asked- “what does the Bible say about Coronavirus?”
Well, first of all, we must realise that, if you are saved, you have nothing to fear. You are a child of the risen King, the Lord Jesus Christ. You are held in the Father’s hands and no one can pluck you out.
“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”
“My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.”
So, with that in mind, let’s answer the question, “What does the Bible say about coronavirus (COVID-19)?”
In Matthew 24, Jesus warned that in the last days there will be “pestilences” in “divers (which means diverse) places“.
In fact, the words “pestilences” and “pestilence” are mentioned 49 times in the King James Holy Bible.
So, why would God allow COVID-19?
Well, it comes down to the fact that our world is infected with sin.
Sin is why bad things happen. Sickness, pain, suffering and death- all are the consequences of sin.
When Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden by eating of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, sin entered the world- the entire universe as been in a downward spiral ever since.
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”
So Coronavirus is in this world due to sin. However, it still begs the question “Why would God ALLOW COVID-19?” The answer is simple- as judgement and to show us that we will all one day die.
“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”
The question you have to ask yourself is this: “If I were to die of Coronavirus or any other means, would I go to Heaven, to live forever in the Glory of the risen Lord Jesus; or burn in Hell forever, cursing myself, God and not listening to that Christian who gave me the Gospel?”
As I stated at the beginning of this article, over 342,000 people have died due to Coronavirus. Where did they go? Did they go to Heaven? How about Hell?
If you believe that everyone one will go to Heaven, then you are very wrong- very, very wrong. Was Jesus lying when He said, “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” in Matthew 7:21? Who how about when He said, “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:” in Matthew 7:13? Ever read the story of the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16:19-31?
I believe that God is allowing COVID-19 to shake the world up, before it is too late. If you aren’t saved, I’d suggest getting saved right now. Not later on, not when you have that job, not when you’re older, but right now. Who knows what will happen to you today? What if you get COVID-19? Also, if you follow false teachers like Kenneth Copeland, stop doing so. They say that Christians don’t get COVID-19! That is a very dangerous lie. I’ve heard of many Christians who have the virus. It’s just a way of keeping you in their “church” so you add to their millions. Trust me, look up the net worth of the charismatic “preacher” you follow. You will be surprised.
COVID-19 is a wake-up call to the world. If you aren’t, get saved now. If you are a Christian, preach the Gospel. Get on Twitter, YouTube, WordPress or whatever social-media platform you use and get preaching. Start a new account on a website you don’t use and preach there. Once this pandemic is over, preach to real people. Do it while you can. The world is changing before our eyes.
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
2 Timothy 4:2-3
“Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;”
“And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!”
“How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!”
